I started out working for an organic vegetable farm in Wisconsin when I was 21 years old. From there I have done 2 seasons on a cranberry bog, two seasons in an apple orchard, 2 seasons in the blueberry fields, and 2 seasons in herb production garden/ apothecaries and a number of filling in to help on farms and gardens of friends. I have gathered knowledge from the people I have worked with but have MUCH to learn yet (and I'm 35)! I am interested in raising organic varieties to sell at markets, building organic matter and small compost production, and establishing and managing a tree nursery. I think starting out with 1 acre would be plenty enough space for these initial projects. Which would entail raising a small greenhouse, tilling in rows, and building compost turning stations. The warm months of 2025 could be a great time to prepare the space to be ready for production in Spring 2026.
