Description
Founder and former owner-operator of Chestnut Hollow Farms, LLC (2011-2018), a fully registered commercial hydroponic farm in Bridgeport, CT. The business was registered with the CT Secretary of State, CT Department of Agriculture, and USDA, and filed farm business taxes with the CT Department of Revenue Services and the IRS. The farm produced specialty leafy greens, culinary herbs, and microgreens year-round using NFT and deep water culture hydroponic systems at 305 Knowlton Street, Bridgeport. Wholesale accounts included New Morning Market (Woodbury), Walter Stewart's Market (New Canaan), and Artisan restaurant at Delamar Southport. Direct sales through Black Rock Farmers Market and Greenfield Hill Grange Winter Market in Fairfield. Listed in the CT Department of Agriculture BuyCTGrown producer directory. Named in a 2016 White House Office of Science and Technology Policy initiative on agricultural workforce development. Served on the CT Department of Agriculture DEI Working Group, Access to Capital and Resources subgroup (2021-2023). Member of the Advisory Committee for the City of Bridgeport Urban Agriculture Master Plan (2018-2019). The operation closed due to capital constraints, not market or operational failure. Now restarting as Chestnut Hollow Farms, Inc. to acquire existing greenhouse infrastructure in Connecticut for year-round commercial hydroponic production of specialty crops including leafy greens, culinary herbs, and specialty ethnic produce for wholesale, food service, and specialty retail markets across Connecticut and New England. Seeking a property with a minimum of 10,000 square feet of existing greenhouse or high tunnel space, water access suitable for closed-loop hydroponic recirculation, and on-site housing. Open to all acquisition structures including owner-financed sale, lease with option to purchase, or standard sale.
