Young farmer with 3 seasons under his belt working full-time on an organic produce farm with a CSA, market stand, and large customer base. Learned to farm under the guidance of a veteran organic farmer in CT with almost 30 years of experience running his own profitable farm. I will continue to work with him and help out as I available this next season. The farm is between 15-20 acres.
I am looking to start growing my own farm business with 2 partners and am in search of land to rent. We are hoping to hone our craft, develop new or help grow local markets of quality produce, experiment with no-till or low-till regenerative farming, explore the viability of value-added products, scale our crop size year-over-year, and delve into specialty crops (flowers, herbs, mushrooms, garlic). We are looking to start with just garlic and potentially some high-tunnel growing with the plan to eventually move into typical field crops. While my experience is largely in organic agriculture with traditional tillage methods, I hope to learn more and experiment with methods that leave the land/soil in better health than when we started farming it.
My partners and I are interested in leasing land in CT or eastern NY to begin with the intention of eventually buying land where we can park our, hopefully, successful business. We are hoping to do this within 5 years but need to be farming in the meantime, so leasing farm land is the most appealing to us right now. We're also interested in lease-to-own, partnerships, or alternative land lease/sale options.
