Description

Our Eastern Orthodox Christian Church has raised funds to lease or purchase farmland in Connecticut. Many of the families in our church have roots in Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Poland, Serbia, Georgia and other Slavic lands. We are looking for a location where both homeschooling groups can meet AND farming will occur. In summary we are looking for:

  • a space where homeschool families could gather several times a week to educate their kids collectively (build new or renovate)
  • a space for a small chapel (build new or renovate)
  • 2 to 5 acres cultivated for market garden (eg: flowers, vegetables, fruits & herbs)
  • 2 to 3 acres corn, wheat, 4 + acres hay or pasture
  • chickens, possibly a few sheep and maybe a beef cow
  • a community garden
  • orchards would be nice
  • caretaker residence (build new or renovate)
  • parking area

We would consider a long term lease with first rights of refusal to purchase as well as out right purchase. We would like to keep as much farm land as possible in agriculture and use non arable land for home schooling and other church related activities. Our preferred location is near Cheshire and the towns surrounding Cheshire AND we are also open to other areas if we locate a place that is well suited for us. As a member of the project team, I am a former national sales manager of Seeds of Change and worked as an assistant instructor at two farm schools, one in Colorado and one in California.
