Jessica Gillespie/Hooting Owl Farm

My partner has a 12 year history of farming pigs, and has extensive experience with livestock. We'd like to expand the farm to include a market garden, possibly starting a CSA and/or farm stand and feed for the animals. Unfortunately, the current farm is well suited for pigs but not for produce.

I'm currently employed in education and have utilized my skills to continue my research in the area of agriculture, especially organic and sustainable methods of growing. For years, I've grown and processed a variety of produce for my family and network of friends, and I'm looking to expand. I currently rent my property and I'm outgrowing it; I'm hoping to one day own a produce farm of my own. 

We want to grow this into a business that could potentially support us in the future. My partner currently works a 5 acre farm now producing mainly pork for retail sale--specializing in sausage. We participate in several farmer's markets and provide products to several farm stands in Eastern CT.
